The Tennessee Titans have been flirting with breaking their own players fielded record all season long thanks to yet another injury-plagued campaign, but it appears they’ll fall just short of that record in 2022.
The Titans set the all-time mark in 2021, fielding a record 91 players during the course of the campaign. After the Week 17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee is just five players shy of tying it.
The Titans fielded four new players on Thursday night in quarterback Joshua Dobbs, offensive linemen Zack Johnson and Xavier Newman, and defensive lineman Jayden Peevy, bringing Tennessee’s total up to 86, which is tops in the NFL.
So, while the Titans are right there with one game left, chances are they won’t hit the mark. After all, the Titans sat several key players and still only added four to their total.
Adding five more to tie or six more to break it just doesn’t seem feasible with the aforementioned players set to return for a do-or-die Week 18 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
QB Joshua Dobbs, DE Jayden Peevy, OL Zack Johnson and OL Xavier Newman became the 83rd, 84th, 85th and 86th players to appear in a game for the @Titans in 2022.
The #Titans entered the week with an NFL-high 82 players used through 15 games.

While we’re a fan of records over here, this is one we’re fine with the Titans not setting once again.
Thankfully, it looks like they’ll fall short of doing so, but it doesn’t erase the fact that this team has an injury problem that has to get sorted out during the offseason.
