The Tennessee Titans are reportedly trading Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for safety Terrell Edmunds and two picks in the 2024 NFL draft.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Titans are getting the Eagles’ fifth- and sixth-round picks in next year’s draft, along with Edmunds, who is a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2018 NFL draft.
To be quite frank, the return is pretty underwhelming here.
I assumed Byard would’ve netted the Titans at least a third- or fourth-round pick in return. Instead, they get two late-round picks and a throwaway player in Edmunds, who is just a body to fill the void left by Byard’s departure.
Whatever the case may be, this was a move the Titans had to make and it’s a clear sign the team is rightly pivoting to the future after an ugly 2-4 start to the season.
On defense, guys like Denico Autry and Kristian Fulton are names to keep an eye on ahead of the Oct. 31 trade deadline. On offense, Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins are also possibilities to be moved.
As for Byard, his excellent career in Tennessee comes to an end and he’ll go down as one of the better players in franchise history. And now he reunites with A.J. Brown in Philadelphia and has a great shot to win his first Super Bowl.
