Titans trade up, select Will Levis with 33rd pick in NFL draft

The Tennessee Titans have moved up from the No. 41 overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft to No. 33 overall and have selected quarterback Will Levis.

To move up eight picks, the Titans struck a deal with the Arizona Cardinals that sends pick Nos. 41 (second round), 72 (third round) and a 2024 third-rounder in exchange for pick Nos. 33 and 81 (third round).

My initial reaction: whoa.

There was no quarterback prospect in this year’s class more polarizing with Titans fans than Levis — and that’s putting it nicely.

The vast majority of fans and media I saw wanted no part of the Kentucky product for various reasons, but now they’ll be rooting for him to develop into the team’s next franchise quarterback.

Adding to the frustration of the fact that the Titans simply drafted Levis, fans aren’t going to be thrilled with the team having traded up for him, even though it wasn’t a bad deal, especially if Levis pans out.

I personally wasn’t a fan of taking a quarterback in this spot, and my choice would have been Hendon Hooker if I had to take one. However, this move certainly adds more juice to the team and, no matter your view on Levis, gives Tennessee hope that they may have their franchise quarterback.
