Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan knows exactly how to get head coach Mike Vrabel going, but doing so has led to the veteran offensive lineman taking some accidental blows to the face.
In an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Lewan explained how to get Vrabel to come out of his shell after wins, and he admitted that it can sometimes lead to his taking an accidental punch in the process.
“Obviously, Vrabel comes in, he wants to be calm, cool, collected guy, win with grace, lose with grace type of attitude,” Lewan said. “But when you win a big one or two, you’ve got to give him a little shove and that’s all it takes. The wick on that guy is like this, he’s like a dangerous firework. You give a little shove, then he comes in… I’ve been punched in the face by Vrabel by accident, I’m assuming, about a dozen times since he’s been my coach, and every single one of those is welcome. I have a tendency to sleep sometimes, so I’m happy he was light on my jaw.”
With Vrabel signing a contract extension this offseason, he’ll have plenty more opportunities to accidentally punch Lewan in the face.
