For the first time since he suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan has addressed the situation.
It isn’t clear exactly what injury Lewan suffered to his knee, but it occurred on the very first offensive play of the 41-7 loss to Buffalo. The left tackle took to Twitter on Wednesday with a message for Titans fans.
“Been a tough couple of weeks for the boy,” Lewan tweeted. “I appreciate all the texts and [direct messages] from the fans. This is not at all how I wish my season ended but I can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support.”

This is the second time in three seasons that Lewan has suffered a season-ending knee injury. A torn ACL in 2020 ended his campaign after just five games. Lewan also missed four games in 2021 due to injury.
Lewan’s future with the Titans is very murky. The former first-round pick will be in the final year of his five-year, $80 million deal in 2023 but has no guaranteed money on it.
The Titans will almost certainly be looking to shed the $14.8 million owed to Lewan, so his days in Nashville are numbered unless he decides to take a pay cut. Even then, the Titans may want to move on from the oft-injured Lewan, which would give way to Nicholas Petit-Frere at left tackle in 2023.
