With free agency just around the corner on March 15 (and, really, March 13 with the legal tampering period), we will finally get some clarity as to what direction the Tennessee Titans are heading for the 2023 season.
However, another underrated aspect of free agency is that it provides a clearer picture as to what the Titans need to prioritize heading into draft weekend in late April.
The offensive line will undoubtedly be a focal point this offseason — both in the draft and free agency — after a dismal campaign that saw the group upfront deal with injuries and struggle mightily overall.
In a recent post-combine mock draft, Sports Illustrated’s The NFL Draft Bible has the Titans addressing their need inside by selecting the massive guard out of Florida, O’Cyrus Torrence.
Their explanation is as follows:
“Large human in terms of outright mass. Mainly a guard but has moved out to tackle and handled the duties well in limited snaps. Arms and strength to finish plays. Plays long with heavy hands at the point of attack.”
Obviously, the Titans desperately need all of the offensive line help they can get, but reaching for an interior lineman is simply bad business, unless the interior prospect has bona fide blue-chip potential.
The Titans should probably look to improve the interior of the offensive line on Day 2 or 3 of the draft instead of reaching in Round 1.
