Titans ‘still actively exploring’ trade for Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed

A week ago, it was reported that the Tennessee Titans had at least some interest in Kansas City Chiefs cornerback, L’Jarius Sneed, who has been franchise-tagged but remains available for trade.

And it appears that interest remains in tact, as Buck Reising of 104.5 The Zone reports that the Titans are “still actively exploring” a trade for the Chiefs’ top cornerback.

Sneed fits the bill of a No. 1 cornerback and would be an excellent addition to a secondary that now includes Chidobe Awuzie, who the Titans agreed to terms with on Monday.

However, what it might take to land him figures to be the biggest roadblock to getting something done.

It remains to be seen what the Chiefs are looking for in draft compensation, but it stands to reason they could want at least a second-round pick.

Adding to that, the Titans would have to sign Sneed to a sizeable extension that Spotrac estimates could hit $65.3 million over four years — and that estimate might be a bit low.

While the Titans certainly have the cap space to get an extension done, as well as a second-round pick, it’s hard to justify a rebuilding team with so many holes trading away a valuable selection, especially when they don’t have another Day 2 selection this year.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like the addition of Sneed, no matter how it comes, but would feel much better if the Titans don’t have to go into their 2024 stable of picks to get it done.
