As we continue to pick up the pieces from the Tennessee Titans’ ugly 35-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13, it’s time to take a look at the snap counts, and the biggest takeaways from them.
The Titans saw even more injuries in Week 13, with linebacker David Long, cornerback Kristian Fulton and wide receiver Treylon Burks all exiting early.
As a result of those injuries and the players ruled out ahead of Sunday, the Titans were forced to dip into their bench once again, paving the way for backups to see increased snaps.
Also, Tennessee saw its 76th player take a snap in Week 13 in running back Julius Chestnut. With him seeing the field Sunday, the Titans are now one behind the Arizona Cardinals for the league lead in players fielded.
The biggest takeaway from the snap counts came from the tight end position. We’ll go over that and more.
Snap counts and takeaways: Offense
-For the first time this season, not only did Chig (32) out-snap Geoff Swaim (20) and play a season-high number of snaps, he also out-snapped all Titans tight ends. Austin Hooper (27) also out-snapped Swaim. Chig responded with a team-high four catches for 48 yards, including a 41-yard reception that helped setup a field goal.
-With the Titans pulling their starters early, only Aaron Brewer (55) and Nicholas Petit-Frere (55) played every snap on offense.
-Robert Woods (51) and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (52) led the way among receivers and combined for 103 snaps. They produced just two catches for 10 yards.
-Treylon Burks played just 10 snaps before exiting early because of injury. C.J. Board saw a bump in playing time as a result with 16 snaps.
Snap counts and takeaways: Defense
-Roger McCreary and Amani Hooker were the only defenders to play every snap. Kristian Fulton (19) and David Long (23) both exited early due to injury.
-With Elijah Molden out and Fulton exiting early, Tre Avery played a career-high 59 snaps.
-With Long sidelined, Joe Schobert got a bump in snaps with a season-high 37. Dylan Cole led the way among inside linebackers with 56, and Monty Rice (26) had his second-highest snap total of the year.
-Ola Adeniyi played 28 snaps in his first game back from injury.
