With the 228th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans selected wide receiver (!) Colton Dowell out of UT-Martin.
This pick is whatever. Yes, the Titans finally addressed wide receiver, but Dowell is a seventh-rounder who would be lucky to make the roster if he was playing for damn-near any other team.
The Titans entered the draft with the worst receiving corps. in the NFL, and they are leaving with the worst receiving corps. in the NFL.
How they go about changing that in the months to come remains to be seen, but one would hope there’s some kind of plan in place to improve things. I’m not thrilled with Carthon and Vrabel after all this, but I have no choice but to trust in them as these picks play out over the next few years.

On the bright side, the Titans did go all offense in this draft, which was the right move considering the circumstances. However, their failure to add a wideout in the early-to-middle rounds remains baffling.
With the pick, the Titans are now finished with this year’s draft and will turn their attention to undrafted free agents signings. We’ll have a tracker posted shortly.
