Titans’ Ryan Tannehill was a slightly above average pocket passer in 2022

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill is one of the most scrutinized players on the team. He has undoubtedly been one of the main reasons why the Titans were perennial championship contenders from 2019 through 2021.

However, many also believe he’s one of the biggest reasons why Tennessee didn’t capitalize when its championship window was wide open.

The Titans quarterback isn’t someone who is going to surgically carve you up from the pocket, but he’s more than capable of getting the job done when he has the necessary pieces around him.

Using EPA per attempt, NFL analyst Warren Sharp recently ranked the top 35 pocket passers in 2022 (minimum: 150 attempts), and the Texas A&M product came in No. 14 overall.

Bear in mind, Tannehill had arguably the worst wide receiving corps. and offensive line in the NFL around him, yet still managed to finish slightly above average among his peers.

At the end of the day, Tannehill is a slightly above-average quarterback who you can win a lot of games with if he’s surrounded by adequate talent.

Whether this Titans team currently fits that description is an entirely different conversation, but thankfully, the team still has a little more time to try and improve the talent level out wide.
