The status of Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is up in the air going into Week 16 after he suffered what was reportedly a high-ankle sprain during the Week 15 loss to the Houston Texans.
High-ankle sprains are usually a multi-week injury, but Levis’ appears to be on the less serious side of things, as his ankle wasn’t heavily taped on Wednesday, nor did he appear to be too hobbled.
Levis said his ankle is improving with each day and he’ll be out on the field on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks if the injury allows him to be.
“I am feeling better than I did yesterday, which is all I am looking to do, to get my body in the best spot to be able to play,” he said, per Jim Wyatt. “I am playing if I am able to, and I am just working to try and get to that point… I definitely feel a lot better than I did Sunday, Monday, and hopefully it continues to go that way.”

“As far as I am concerned, I think if you are able to play, you play,” he added “That’s the mindset I have always played with, and that’s how I am going to approach this. I want to go out there and play good ball, and help our team win games.”
If he can’t go, head coach Mike Vrabel has said that veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who previously lost his job to Levis after he suffered his own ankle injury, will take the reins under center.
The irony in that wasn’t lost on Levis.
“It’s just funny. It’s just ball,” he said, per John Glennon of Nashville Post. “But it’s funny it’s how both ankle injuries, pretty similar and how it happened. Just weird, I guess.”
Back in 2022, Tannehill caught some flack for saying it wasn’t his job to be a mentor to Malik Willis, but that’s exactly the word Levis used when asked about how the veteran has helped him.
“He’s been a heck of a mentor, heck of a leader, heck of a teammate throughout all of it,” he said of Tannehill, according to Kayla Anderson of 104.5 The Zone. “And, really, a coach, too. In the meeting room, especially, with how he’s able to go through how he sees things and how he could see things potentially play out with multiple pieces of the game plan or multiple reads or just tips that I could definitely point to that helped transition into Sundays. So, I’ve got to thank him a lot for that.”
