Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has played his last snap of the 2023 campaign.
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel announced on Friday afternoon that Levis, who is dealing with a foot injury suffered in last week’s loss to the Houston Texans, has been ruled out for Week 18 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Taking his place will be quarterback Ryan Tannehill. This will be the veteran’s last start with the Titans as he prepares to move on in 2024.
This was always the most likely decision, as not only was Levis banged-up, he also would have had to play behind a putrid offensive line that can’t be relied upon to keep him upright and healthy.
And so ends Levis’ rookie campaign, which was no doubt a success. The second-round pick showed more than enough flashes for the Titans to be certain about wanting to build around him moving forward.
Now, it’ll be up to Vrabel and general manager Ran Carthon to improve the offensive line and receiving corps. in order to put Levis in the best possible position to succeed.
It remains to be seen if they’ll actually be able to do that, but the Titans will have plenty of cap space and a high draft pick to help their cause.
