We have a brief update on the Tennessee Titans quarterback situation heading into “Sunday Night Football.”
According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Titans starting QB Ryan Tannehill will travel with the team to Kansas City. Tannehill is listed as questionable with an ankle injury heading into the Week 9 game. He missed the team’s Week 8 game against the Houston Texans with the same injury.
Rapoport says that Titans HC Mike Vrabel has declared Tannehill a game-time decision and his traveling with the team would suggest as much. Tannehill started the practice week practicing in a limited capacity before being downgraded to a non-participant on Thursday. During Friday’s practice, Tannehill was again listed as a limited participant before being declared with a questionable game status.

If Tannehill is unable to go it will likely be rookie quarterback Malik Willis who makes the start in his place. Last week against the Texans, Willis completed just 6-of-10 passes for 55 yards and an interception. Tennessee heavily relied on the ground game, with Derrick Henry carrying the ball 32 times. Willis also carried the ball five times himself.
If he’s even close to healthy, expect Tannehill to suit up and play. The veteran quarterback gives the Titans their best shot at having any sort of success in the passing game.
