Titans’ Payton McCollum to work with Shedeur Sanders at Shrine Bowl

Although the Tennessee Titans have just finished their second round of interviews for their vacant general manager position, preparations for the NFL draft in April are in full swing. On Thursday, the Titans got word they were going to get an up-close look at one of the potential targets for their No. 1 overall selection.

Hours after Titans assistant Payton McCollum was named quarterback coach for the West squad at the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl, the organizers verified that quarterback Shedeur Sanders would be part of that roster.

Minnesota quarterback Max Brosmer and Missouri quarterback Brady Cook will join Sanders under the guidance of McCollum. This is a tremendous opportunity to get to know more about Sanders and how well he would potentially fit in Tennessee.

Many scouts have differing opinions on Sanders, who projects as one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class. With coaches having hands-on experience with a player, they can answer specific questions that may have arisen during the scouting process.

He is coming off an outstanding 2024 campaign with Colorado, where he threw for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 74 percent of his passes. In all, he threw for 7,364 yards with 64 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his two years in Boulder.

The Titans are clearly looking at the quarterback position this offseason, and Sanders has a skill set that would fit well with head coach Brian Callahan’s system. Now, they will get an early look at how he might transition into the NFL.

The East-West Shrine Game is set for January 30 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
