With the NFL Combine having taken place this week, draft experts from different media outlets have begun putting out new mocks to reflect the results of the past week.
As of this writing, the combine hasn’t officially concluded yet, as offensive linemen still have to take part in the bench press. But after that, the combine will officially be over and pro days will be the final opportunity for prospects to show their stuff ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, which begins on April 25.
We start our fourth mock draft round-up with USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, who has the Titans taking Oregon State tackle Taliese Fuaga in his post-combine mock. Here are his thoughts:
No team in the AFC allowed more than their 64 sacks – not the way you want to break in a young quarterback like Will Levis. A right tackle for the Beavers, Fuaga is excellent in pass protection and especially nasty as a run blocker. And if new HC Brian Callahan gives his father, legendary O-line coach Bill Callahan, another building block like this – Tennessee drafted LG Peter Skoronski in Round 1 last year – the Titans’ rebuild could quickly get ahead of schedule.
Fuaga’s stock has been rising over the past few months, but the problem with the Titans taking him is that he’s a right tackle. If the Titans are going to take an offensive lineman this early, it needs to be a left tackle, which is a far bigger need.
While left tackle Joe Alt was off the board in this spot in Davis’ mock, both left tackle Olu Fashanu and wide receiver Malik Nabers were still available. I’d prefer either one of those players over a right tackle at No. 7 overall, and my preference would be Nabers over Fashanu.
Anything short of a left tackle or wide receiver in the first round would be a major disappointment, thus we’re hoping to see players at those positions mocked to the Titans in our round-up.
