Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks made his preseason debut on Thursday night but failed to make much of an impact in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Burks tallied just one touch on a jet sweep that went for four yards. He was targeted once in the end zone, but was unable to come down with the contested catch.
“I was just going out there to make a play for the football team and the defender made a good play on it also,” Burks said of his lone target.
There was at least one other opportunity for Burks to make a big play during the game, but quarterback Malik Willis simply missed him streaking down the field. Not much Burks can do about something like that.

Following the game, head coach Mike Vrabel called Burks’ preseason debut “inconsistent” and believes Burks didn’t adequately carry the good things we saw in practice into Thursday night.
“Just being able to take the progress — some of the improvements that we saw in practice, and carry them over into the game,” Vrabel said, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. “I don’t think that happened enough.”
On top of his 30 snaps on offense, Burks also saw three on special teams, but none as a returner, where he has been getting reps in practice.
Vrabel said Burks wanted those special teams snaps he received, and he was happy with what he saw overall from the special teams units.
“He wanted to be a part of that,” Vrabel said, according to The Tennessean’s Emma Healy. “I think there were some really positive things as far as our kickoff and special teams units that we can build off.
“Treylon will have to come out here and have a good week.”
Burks will have another week-plus of practices — including joint sessions with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — before getting his next opportunity to show his stuff in live-game action against the Bucs next Saturday.
