Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel spoke about new offensive tackle and 2023 first-round pick Peter Skoronski in a press conference shortly after the pick and discussed the rookie’s arm length and status as a starter.
When asked about where Skoronski fits going into his first year with the Titans, Vrabel said the plan is for the Northwestern product to start.
While he was sure of Skoronski’s status as a starter, he did not say where the 6-foot-4, 313-pound lineman will fit in specifically, whether that be at guard or tackle.
Of course, the fact that the Titans intend for the rookie to start after picking him at No. 11 is not surprising.

The biggest question surrounding Skoronski is his ability to play left tackle with short arms. Vrabel touched on that topic and explained how the Northwestern product is able to overcome it.
“Great footwork, plays square, he’s strong,” Vrabel said, per Paul Kuharsky. “I think he uses his mind, he’s intelligent. There’s a lot of things you can do to make up for not having 35-inch arms, which very few tackles have. And so, it’s angles, it’s strength, it’s body control, it’s playing square and being able to move his feet.

Even if the arms do present an issue in his quest to be an NFL left tackle, Skoronski should be a very good guard, making him a safe pick.
