Titans’ Malik Willis ranked as top rookie from the preseason

Tennessee Titans quarterback Malik Willis gave the football world a good glimpse of the immense potential he has during the preseason, where the rookie routinely shined in three games.

Willis progressed each and every week, culminating in his best showing of the preseason when he completed 15-of-23 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown to one pick, while also adding 79 yards on the ground.

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger recently ranked the top 10 rookies from the preseason, and at the top of his list was Willis, who Baldinger called “the most exciting player in the league.”

Check out Baldinger’s full breakdown below (Willis’ part starts at 4:23 in the video).

All in all, it was a great preseason for Willis, who showed significant signs of progress and managed to win the backup job over Logan Woodside, helping to add to the hype around him.

However, as excited as we are to see Willis take the reins, it will likely be at least one more year before he does, as Ryan Tannehill is set to be the starter once again in 2022.

But the Titans aren’t far away from seeing their future in action. Barring a move to bring in a more experienced backup, Willis is just one Tannehill injury or meltdown away from seeing the field in 2022.
