While many Tennessee Titans fans are bewildered at the team’s 2023 NFL draft haul, mostly because the team didn’t spend an early-to-middle round pick on a much-needed wide receiver, it does appear the team at least got good value with their selections.
According to football analyst Warren Sharp, the Titans ranked sixth in terms of getting the best value out of their picks. This is based on where prospects were expected to be drafted versus where they were actually taken.
Of Tennessee’s six picks, guys like offensive tackle Peter Skoronski and quarterback Will Levis can be considered good value picks.
Skoronski was thought to possibly go in the top 10, but the Titans got him at No. 11, which was fortunate considering the lineman-needy Chicago Bears were one spot in front (they took Darnell Wright instead).
In fact, general manager Ran Carthon even said the team was “lucky” Skoronski was still on the board.

Depending on who you ask, the Titans at least got decent value with the Levis pick in the second round, as many projected him to go in the first.
As far as the Titans’ board was concerned, Carthon hinted the team might have taken Levis at No. 11 if Skoronski wasn’t there. I’d venture to guess Tennessee wasn’t the only team with a first-round grade on him.
Two other picks that could be considered solid value are the ones of offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan and tight end Josh Whyle. Shaun Calderon had Duncan with a projected range of rounds three to five, while Whyle was projected to go anywhere between rounds four to six.
If you’re not happy with the Titans’ draft haul in any way, this chart and ranking for Tennessee is definitely a glass-half-full way of looking at it.
