Ever since rookie quarterback Will Levis took over as the Tennessee Titans’ starter, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons has been one of his biggest supporters.
The Mississippi State product was mic’d up during Levis’ debut in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons and was heard hyping up the young quarterback on the sideline to the rest of his teammates.
Simmons recently doubled down on his belief for Levis as the Titans’ franchise quarterback of the present and future.
After going on the “Off the Edge with Cam Jordan” podcast, Simmons was asked how much faith he has in Levis being the Titans’ long-term answer at the most important position, and the All-Pro defender gave him a glowing endorsement.
“I honestly feel like he’s our guy,” Simmons said. “Even before the [Week 12] game, most of the time I break it down on the field. I break it down in the locker room right before we go back on the field, and then something just told me, I said, ‘Will, break it down.’ Like two minute speech he gave right before the game, I knew Will is going to be real special. Just his leadership, you know, his will to want to win, and it’s crazy how he release the ball and it’s kind of just wowed me, because he got a quick release. Overall, you know I’m excited for our future with Will. Even the rest of this season, you know, once we get back rolling and stay on that steady train, man, I think Will will lead the offense to great things, and lead our team to great things.”

Not only is it great to hear Simmons’ stamp of approval, it’s also awesome to see him give Levis an opportunity to step into more of a leadership role via breaking the team down.
The talent Levis possesses is undeniable, and anyone who watches him can see that. He just has a few things to clean up and he could become a real problem in the NFL for the foreseeable future.
