The Tennessee Titans spent their non-practice day bringing in a handful of players for workouts, one of which was a familiar face.
According to the league’s transactions wire, the Titans worked out one of their former players in running back Jonathan Ward, which was first reported on Monday by Justin Melo of The Draft Network.
Buy Titans TicketsWard was with the team in 2022, appearing in three games and totaling five carries for 25 yards while playing mostly on special teams.
Tennessee brought Ward back this offseason and he looked to have a good shot to make the initial 53-man roster as the team’s third back before suffering an injury in preseason Week 1.
The Titans are in the market for a running back with the team only having two on the active roster (Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears) and one on the practice squad (Jacques Patrick).
Ward was just one of five players the Titans took a look at on Tuesday. Here’s the rest.
RB Hassan Hall
Hall was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech by the Cleveland Browns in 2023. His only snaps in the NFL came during the preseason, but Hall didn’t do anything of note before being waived.
Hall tallied 386 carries for 1,820 yards and 12 touchdowns and 50 receptions for 340 yards over his five collegiate seasons, the first four of which were spent with Louisville. He also returned kicks, with 104 at 24.8 yards per.
DL DaMarcus Mitchell
An undrafted free-agent signing of the New England Patriots out of Purdue in 2022, Mitchell played in all 16 games for the Pats last season. He finished with eight tackles while playing 310 snaps on special teams and just five on defense. He was last with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason but was waived after a few days.
OLB Quincy Roche
Roche is a former sixth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021. After failing to make the team, he latched on with the New York Giants for two seasons, where he tallied 40 tackles, 2.5 sacks (all in 2021) and one forced fumble over 17 games.
He reunited with the Steelers this offseason via a futures deal but was unable to make the roster once again.
LB Brandon Smith
Smith was a fourth-round pick of the Carolina Panthers out of Penn State in 2022. He played in 12 games last year and totaled eight tackles while playing mostly on special teams. His season ended after being placed on injured reserve in December and Smith failed to make the Panthers’ roster out of camp in 2023.
