The Tennessee Titans are reportedly set to add yet another linebacker in free agency, with the team expected to sign former San Francisco 49ers linebacker, Azeez Al-Shaair.
The news comes from ESPN’s Dianna Russini, who did not reveal the length or financial terms of the deal. Al-Shaair is the second linebacker Tennessee is reportedly set to add after the team agreed to terms with Luke Gifford.
Al-Shaair already has a connection to the Titans, as general manager Ran Carthon was in the Niners’ front office for all four years he was there, and there’s a good chance he had a hand in bringing Al-Shaair in.
Originally an undrafted free agent in 2019, Al-Shaair has started in 31 of the 54 games he’s played in over his career, including a career-high 13 starts in 2021, a season that saw him total personal bests in tackles (102), sacks (two) and passes defensed (five).
The Florida Atlantic produced appeared in 12 games (nine starts) in 2022, finishing with 44 tackles.
Unlike Gifford, Al-Shaair brings starting experience with him. He has a good shot to land one of the two open spots Tennessee has at linebacker.
