When the Tennessee Titans hired Brian Callahan as their new head coach, the hope was that he would bring his dad and esteemed offensive line coach, Bill Callahan, with him. Well, it appears that’s going to happen.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer, the Titans are hiring Callahan, marking the first time in NFL history that a head coach has hired his father.
This is a massive get for the Titans, as Callahan is considered one of the very best in the business at his job and is the perfect coach to employ to aid in Tennessee’s offensive line rebuild.
As things stand now, Callahan will have a lot of work to do. Tennessee has, at most, one starter locked in for next season in Peter Skoronski, and there’s also a possibility that Callahan will be tasked with bringing along a rookie left tackle if the Titans can land one at No. 8 overall in the 2024 NFL draft.
But if there’s any coach good enough to handle the situation and turn things around, it’s Callahan.
By all accounts, the younger Callahan and general manager Ran Carthon are putting an impressive staff together for 2024.
On top of this hire, the Titans are also adding one of the hotter defensive coordinator candidates in Dennard Wilson, and a highly-touted receivers coach in Tyke Tolbert.
