The Tennessee Titans sit atop the AFC South after five games and their Week 6 bye and control their own destiny in terms of possibly winning the division for a third straight season.
Tennessee will have a golden opportunity to really put some space between themselves and the second-place Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, as the Titans look to sweep the Colts after beating them in Week 4 in Indy, 24-17.
According to FiveThirtyEight, the Titans have a 49 percent chance to win the division, nine points higher than the Colts. Tennessee’s chances of simply making the playoffs sits at 62 percent, six higher than the Colts.
The New York Times’ playoff predictor actually has the Colts with the better chance to win the AFC South, coming in at 59 percent to the Titans’ 58. The Colts are also listed with a better percent chance to make the playoffs (43-42).
Looking ahead to Week 7, the Titans are 2.5-point favorites over the Colts, and rightly so. Tennessee has dominated Indianapolis in recent years, winning each of the last four matchups.
The Colts are coming off a bounce-back game for their offense that saw the unit score a season-high 34 points, led by its passing attack that gave the Titans issues in their previous meeting.
The winner of this game will have sole possession of first place. If the Titans win, they wrap up the head-to-head tiebreaker, while a Colts win would erase that and leave any potential tiebreaker to divisional record.
