Titans’ Derrick Henry has 1 more crack at career milestone

Entering the Week 17 game against the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has one more crack at joining historic company.

Henry currently sits with 9,307 rushing yards and 89 scores on the ground in his career. If he scores one rushing touchdown on Sunday, he’ll become the fifth player in NFL history to tally 9,000 rushing yards and 90 rushing touchdowns before the age of 30.

The other four backs to accomplish that feat are all in the Hall of Fame: Barry Sanders, LaDainian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith and Jim Brown.

However, this will be Henry’s last chance to accomplish the feat, as The King will turn 30 on Jan. 4, which comes just days before the Titans’ final game of the 2023 campaign.

Henry will have a tall task in hitting that mark, though, as the Texans sport the sixth-best run defense in the NFL and previously held Henry to just nine rushing yards on 16 scoreless carries in Week 15.
