After an impressive rookie campaign, Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo is primed for a breakout sophomore season — and one Bleacher Report writer agrees.
In an article putting together an “All-Underrated Team” for the 2023 season, Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton listed Chig at tight end. Here’s some of what Moton had to say about it:
Whether Tannehill finishes the 2023 season under center or yields the position to rookie second-rounder Will Levis, Okonkwo seems primed for a productive campaign. Keep in mind that the Titans cut wideout Robert Woods, who led the team in catches (53) and receiving yards (527) in 2022.
While Chig might be underrated nationally (what else is new for a Titans player), Titans fans are well aware of how special he can be.
Okonkwo, who flashed elite playmaking ability in his first season, led all rookie tight ends with 450 yards, and he was tied for the most receiving touchdowns with three.

Chig also posted an eye-popping yards per route run number that was elite amongst both tight ends and receivers.
Making his season even more impressive is the fact that the Titans basically ignored him for the entire first half of the season, leading to Chig doing the vast majority of his statistical damage over the final 10 games.
Looking ahead to 2023, Chig stands to be no worse than the No. 2 option in a passing attack that is sorely lacking options behind he and Treylon Burks. As a result, Chig is primed to be peppered with targets and, in turn, post huge numbers in his second season.
