During his NFL Combine press conference on Tuesday, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel revealed defensive line coach Terrell Williams will have a new role added to his current responsibilities in 2023.
Vrabel announced that Williams will serve as assistant head coach, a new role for the defensive line coach who has been with the team since 2018.
“You know how I feel about Terrell and what he’s meant to our program since I’ve been here,” Vrabel said. “The consistency, on and off the football field, the relationship and connection that he’s built with every defensive lineman.
“So, yeah, I was able to — and rightfully so — name him assistant head coach for defense, because that’s what he is. I watch the players, whether it’s an offensive player, defensive player outside of his position, they have a tendency to find “Big T” or he has a tendency to find them. He’s a valuable member to our staff and we’re lucky to have him.”
Williams has done an outstanding job the past few years, so the added title is well-deserved.
Not only have the Titans sported one of the elite defensive lines in the NFL the past few years, but Williams has also had a big hand in developing Jeffery Simmons and Teair Tart, both of whom are key cogs upfront.
