With the Arizona Cardinals sitting at No. 3 overall in the 2023 NFL draft and apparently open to trading that pick, there remains an avenue for teams like the Tennessee Titans to move up and grab Anthony Richardson or another one of the quarterbacks after C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young.
And the man with that pick, Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort, is someone the Titans are quite familiar with after he served as director of player personnel in Nashville for multiple years.
While it remains to be seen if the Titans will trade up, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently said on his “Move the Sticks” podcast with Bucky Brooks that people around the league believe the Titans shouldn’t be slept on in regard to possibly trading up to that spot.
“Can I give you the team that I’ve been told to keep an eye on that’s exploring this and looking into this? Again, this is just people around the league who said do not sleep on numero 11, the Tennessee Titans,” he said. “The two teams to keep an eye on with the trade ups were the Raiders and the Titans.”
As Jeremiah points out, this is what he’s hearing from people around the league (likely coaches and/or executives) rather than some kind of inside information, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
That said, I don’t see a world where the Titans trade up to No. 3 unless either Young or Stroud fall to that spot, something that is unlikely to happen.
Richardson is the only other quarterback who could sniff being taken at three as far as I’m concerned, but I wouldn’t be keen on Tennessee giving up what it would cost to go get him in that spot and would rather wait and see if he falls to No. 11.
