The Tennessee Titans’ secondary has been under the microscope through the first six games and has been arguably the most scrutinized position group on the team, outside of maybe the offensive line.
Tennessee’s pass defense currently ranks 21st in the NFL and is giving up 237 yards per contest. The Titans rank tied for third-most yards per completion (8.0).
Kristian Fulton has no doubt been the biggest disappointment over the first six games. Meanwhile, Sean Murphy-Bunting, who was signed in free agency, has proven to be the team’s best cornerback in 2023.
Safety Amani Hooker has posted some ugly coverage numbers thus far, but at least he’s making plays. The 2019 fourth-round pick has tallied one pick, tied for most on the team, and three pass break-ups, which leads the team.
Fellow safety Kevin Byard has fared a bit better in coverage than Hooker, but not by much. He also hasn’t made the kind of impact plays he’s been known for in years past, with the veteran not having a single pass break-up or interception under his belt.
