She started her career in New York City and was one of the group who brought the Free Shakespeare Festival to the city’s Central Park.

She played the Clocktower Lady in the 1985 sci-fi adventure starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd, and Ida Strauss in Titanic - one half of the elderly couple who are seen embracing in bed as their water fills with seawater.

She also played the estate agent who sold the house in horror The Amityville Horror and was John Malkovich’s landlady in In The Line of Fire.

She had television roles in Amen, Wiseguy, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital.

Fans paid tribute to the star.

Adam Riches wrote: “RIP Elsa Raven. Iconic for playing Back To The Future’s “Clocktower Lady” among many other roles.”

Another added: “SAVE THE CLOCKTOWER! Such a short but memorable scene, acted by the talented Elsa Raven, who passed away today. Rest in peace Elsa.”
