Tipping Point viewers confused as ITV show returns to old format

Tipping Point viewers have been left confused as the ITV show has returned to its old format. The quiz show, hosted by Ben Shephard, recently introduced a new three-contestant format but during Monday (May 30) episode, there were four.

Tipping Point has been running since 2012 and sees contestants answer questions on general knowledge to win counters to use on a large coin-pushing arcade machine. Hopefuls could be in with a chance of winning £10,000.

The three-contestant format, which has been criticized by regular fans, was introduced earlier this year. Viewers took to social media to ask whether they were watching a repeat. According to TV listings, Monday's Tipping Point was, indeed, a new episode.

The return of the four-contestant format confused viewers (ITV)

Writing on Twitter, viewer David Fisher questioned: "WTF. Four!! Is it old?"

Luckily for David, fellow fan Ophelia answered: "Sky planner says it's a new episode. I'm confused?"

It seems that Ophelia wasn't the only person who was confused as other people also took to social media to express their uncertainty. Sarah said: "It says it's a new episode."

@bobobobob, meanwhile, was happy with the news and wrote: "You don't know how happy I am that there are four contestants." Sue Avis agreed with him.

Offering viewers an answer, Dario informed people that, "they don't show the shows in sequence, that's why we're back to the four."

And there we have it. Whether it's three contestants or four, Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm.
