Tipping Point: Emmerdale Lucy Pargeter's unknown popstar past and co-star flatmate

Lucy Pargeter is set to compete on tonight's episode of Tipping Point Lucky Stars.

The 45-year-old will be joined by Sara Pascoe and Joe Marler on a special edition of the popular ITV game show. Ben Shephard will host as the celebrities attempt to win big money for their chosen charity from the arcade style machine.

Lucy is renowned for her portrayal of Chas Dingle on Emmerdale. The soap star joined the ITV show in 2002 and continues to be a key character in the programme.

Chas is currently enduring a turbulent time in the Yorkshire Dales as she has struggled to come to terms with her mum's cancer diagnosis. She took comfort in Al Chapman and she has been dealing with guilt since the two shared a kiss.

Lucy is renowned for her career as an actor, however she nearly became a popstar and enjoyed success as part of the girl group Paperdolls. The band released a single titled Gonna Make You Blush in 1998 and toured as a support act for Boyzone.

Lucy spoke to Inside Soap about how much she enjoyed being a part of the girl group. She said: "Three girls on the road in their 20s having the best time.

"It was a laugh. We went from thinking we were just a few girls getting together and doing a few songs, to getting signed by a record label and touring. It was a great time."

Lucy was 24-years-old when she joined Emmerdale and she immediately struck up a friendship with co-star, Amy Nuttall, who played Chloe Atkinson in the show. She fondly spoke about how they used to regularly enjoy nights out with fellow Emmerdale star, Sammy Winward.

She said: "We had a little cottage in Leeds and the front door was always open waiting for a taxi. There was only wine and crumpets in the fridge and the whole place stank of fake tan.

“We’d finish work, go home, order the taxi, get ready and be in town half an hour later. Life has changed. Now at the end of the day I go home, feed the kids, learn my lines and go to bed.”

Away from the world of showbiz, Lucy shares three children with Rudi Coleano. However, the two split in 2019 after 12 years together.

A statement released at the time said: "Lucy Pargeter has confirmed she has separated from her long-term partner, Rudi Coleano, and, while no longer together, their main priority is raising their three daughters.”
