Tipping Point changes format to mark 10th anniversary but fans aren't impressed

Tipping Point fans were left baffled during Monday's showing as the popular game show unveiled some new changes to the format to mark its 10 year anniversary. The programme usually sees host Ben Shephard welcome four contestants to take part in the giant coin drop machine but instead just three contestants took to the podiums.

It was revealed on the official Tipping Point social media accounts ahead of the new episodes airing on ITV on April 11 that to celebrate being on screens since 2012 "things have been shaken up in the studio a little". It seems the hit game show has decided to follow in the footsteps of the celebrity spin-off Lucky Stars, where just three contestants compete against each other to win jackpot.

But the new change wasn't a hit with all viewers and many Tipping Point fans took to Twitter to share their views with some questioning if it's not broken why fix it?. "Sorry @benshephard I won't be watching the rest of the revamped for the worse series of #TippingPoint #ITV @ITV" Ron Maden tweeted. "Had enough of this. I’ll be back for the chase and hope they haven’t ****** that up #tippingpoint" Arthur Summersell added.

Some viewers tuned in to find the format had changed and said it was 'weird'. GF Furness said: "#TippingPoint only has 3 contestants! This is weird" and Ash Williams added: "What's going on where's the fourth player?! #tippingpoint".

Nigel Bridge tweeted: "I love Tipping Point, I have watched every episode and that's a lot. Would love to be a contestant but the chances of becoming one now have gone down by 25%! Why change something that wasn't broken? It wasn't as though it was costing ITV any more prize money." Steph Hulme added: "So the 'new' format is the exact same format as the celebrity edition? Why change the show?"

"Congratulations!" Lynn Blackburn tweeted: "But why change the format after 10 years? If it's working and everyone loves the show, if it's not broken, why fix it?". "I really don't like this new format. #TippingPoint" Marriann added.

Tipping Point airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 4pm.
