Tipperary café run by Ukrainian family 'in tears of joy' after huge donation drive sees queues out the door

A café in Tipperary, run by a Ukrainian family, has been roundly applauded after a huge donation drive in response to the crisis in their country.

Alla Dediuk and her family have lived in Fethard for over a decade, and their café Alla's Patisserie opened on Sunday with all profits being sent directly to the Ukranian forces.

They also called out to the public to donate anything they could to help out.

And they managed to raise over €11,000 - with a massive response from the people of Fethard seeing queues out the door.

Alla took to the café's social media to write: "Dear friend, Thank you all for supporting Ukraine! There were a lot of people, we will count the money and I will let you know tomorrow how much in total !

"Thanks for the food, clothes and medical tapes, Very big help I am posting a few photos that I received from you, I will post more later. Thank you all, we will definitely win this war in the eyes of tears of joy from your help."

Speaking to RTE News, she added: ""Everything we sold in the cafe yesterday and today has gone into the donation bucket," she said.

"We literally sold every single pastry and cup of tea and coffee, and already we have raised €11,000 for the support kitty.

"I am very worried and stressed and awake at night worrying about my family, about my brother and father and many cousins who are still there,

"They are safe so far, but there has been much fighting in the area."
