Tiny one-eyed puppy found in rotting rubbish in desperate need of new home

She was dumped in rubbish at just weeks old - and is now desperately searching for somebody to give her a second chance at life.

Poor Masea, now eight-months-old, was discovered in rotting waste in a "horrible state" alongside her litter siblings.

The poor pooch was suffering from flystrike, a painful condition caused by flies laying their eggs on another animal. These hatch into maggots, which eat the flesh of their 'hosts'.

Sadly for Mesea, this caused her to lose sight in one of her eyes, meaning she is now having to adjust to life as a partially-sighted dog.

But this isn't her only health concern as Mesea is also deaf in one ear after having to have her ear canal removed following a complication.

Despite living in a private shelter in Moldova, she is currently up for adoption with Blind Dog Rescue UK and is ready to board a flight when a family is found.

A spokeswoman at Blind Dog Rescue UK said: "Masea is eight-months-old as of March 2022 and weighs 13.5kg. Masea was found as a newborn along with her siblings.

"Masea is a typical youngster who is friendly with dogs, with people and with children. She is a little more lively than her brothers and sister. She is impatient, and can be noisier than the others.

"She would love a home with a garden and can live with another dog for company Our adoption donation is £350. This includes travel to the UK, their vaccinations, pet passport, microchip and all preparation for travel. They also come with 5 weeks free insurance."

Blind Dog Rescue UK works to rehome blind and partially sighted dogs who have been subjected to the “worst of humanity yet still have an astonishing capacity to adapt, love and become perfect ambassadors for blind dogs everywhere”.

Many of the dogs in their care have been victims of abuse, neglect, disease or trauma - and struggle to survive in shelters.

A Blind Dog Rescue UK statement reads: “It is incredibly difficult for sighted dogs to survive any length of time in these shelters let alone blind or partially sighted dogs.

“We need to get to these dogs quickly and secure their immediate release and treatment.

“These dogs may have been deliberately blinded, involved in road traffic accidents or long term sufferers of painful conditions such as glaucoma.

“They need veterinary care and to be given the safety and comfort of a foster home in which to start healing.

“Here they are given love and affection and a warm bed - possibly the first they will have experienced in their lifetimes.

"At this point, we are able to start assessing and promoting these wonderful dogs for forever homes."
