A tiny city centre takeaway is “proud” to be named among the most popular in Liverpool.
Delivery food service Deliveroo named Liverpool’s most popular takeaway dish and an intimate restaurant hidden in plain sight took the top spot. The Chicken Katsu Curry from Japanese restaurant Kokoro was named as the city’s most popular meal to order via Deliveroo.
The dish is described on the Kokoro website as one of the "most popular items available". It consists of panko breaded chicken thigh paired with curry sauce, offered on a base of either steamed rice or noodles.

Minsook Lee, owner and franchisee of Kokoro Liverpool, said: “It is an honour to receive this kind of recognition. We are proud of this accomplishment because it is a testament that customers love our food and trust in Kokoro quality. Chicken Katsu Curry has always been neck and neck with Sweet Chilli Chicken across our stores, but to be customers' favourite in Liverpool is definitely a massive sign showing its popularity.”
Kokora offers a range of hot food such as Chicken Katsu, Sweet Chilli Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Cold food on the menu includes everything from Sushi to Gyoza.
Among the other popular meals were Five Guys’ Bacon Cheeseburger, Cha Siu Bao from Yum Cha on Lark Lane, a Chicken Royale from Burger King and a Chicken Gyros from Grilla.
Kokoro is based on Church Street in Liverpool city centre. The restaurant is open from 11am - 9pm from Monday to Saturday, and 12pm - 8pm on Sundays.
