Tiny flat goes on sale for £599,950 - but it's so small the bed is in the kitchen

If you're splashing out £599,950 for a house, you would hope it would get you a pretty fancy property with lots of space and some fun features.

But not if you're house hunting in Marylebone.

This tiny studio flat has gone on the market for the same price as 20 family homes in Britain's most affordable town.

The one-bed has no space for a lounge or dining area, and the double bed is in the kitchen.

The bedroom and kitchenette form the main room which is just 4.8m by 4.1m wide.

But it means the buyer of the property - more than half a million pounds - can just roll out of bed for breakfast or a midnight snack.

The bed is just a metre from the hob, microwave and sink. There are two skinny wardrobes at either ends of the bed to offer some storage.

The property listing states this arrangement is an "open living/kitchen sleeping area."

It does boast a separate bathroom and is a block of apartments with a round-the-clock porter on the door.

Mortgage repayments on the studio flat in Marylebone, central London are estimated to be a whopping £2,505 per month.

It was originally on for £650,000 but has just been reduced.

It is just round the corner from celebrity haunt the Chiltern Firehouse.

But for one 20th of that asking price you could buy a family, terraced house in Shildon, Co Durham.

There are houses with two bedrooms there for as little as £30,000 and several currently on the market for between £40,000 and £45,000.

The average property price in the town is just £71,000 making it the cheapest place in the UK to live.

The studio pad is being sold by Manors estate agents and advertised through Rightmove.

Due to its diminutive size, the key features are fairly brief.

They state: "Bright Living Space, sleek shower room, 24 hour porterage."

The full listing reads: "A beautifully bright studio apartment located within a beautiful sought after portered mansion block on Portman Square.

"The apartment comprises of an open living/kitchen sleeping area with beautiful windows, sleek shower room and ample storage."

It adds: "Residents benefit from access to the stunning gardens of Portman Square.

"Well-maintained, the building benefits from passenger lifts and 24-hour porter.

"Portman Square is moments from Selfridges as well as the fashionable amenities of Oxford Street and Marylebone High Street, with the green open spaces of Hyde Park nearby.

"Conveniently positioned for Bond Street - Jubilee Line and Central Line - and Marble Arch Underground Station - Central Line."
