Tiny disabled deaf puppy abandoned by breeder now looking for new home

A tiny deaf puppy abandoned by her breeder due to her disability is looking for adoption.

The 11-month-old Staffy named Frost was sadly left at Yappy Ever After in Derby, East Midlands, on Saturday.

Now it's hoped that mischievous Frost will find a new family who have the experience and patience to care for a deaf dog.

Rescue centre manager Louise Radford said: “Frost is just like any other little puppy, [she's] into everything. She’s very inquisitive, happy and confident.”

The social pooch loves to play with other dogs and often cuddles up to them - a sign she is still “missing the warmth and comfort of her mum and siblings”.

The puppy also loves to chew fingers and will need training, but Louise has no doubt she will "fit in perfectly with any home she trots into".

Frost can live with cats and children, and it would benefit her greatly if she lived with another dog, who could help to show her the ropes.

Potential adopters must live in Derby, Nottingham or Chesterfield.

Louise shared her top tips for anyone looking to adopt a hearing-impaired puppy, adding: “One of the main challenges when caring for a deaf dog is recall.

“You can teach them hand signals instead, to help enrich their lives and keep them safe.

“When out walking, a long lead is important too as it gives them the freedom to explore and have a good run around.”
