Tinned fish, ready meals and veggie burgers among host of items urgently being recalled by supermarkets

Contaminated pasta sauce, incorrectly labelled ready meals and tinned fish that can cause a serious infection are some of the products being urgently recalled by the nation's top supermarkets.

Tesco, Asda and Lidl are among the supermarkets that have recalled several products in recent weeks and are urging their customers to return them to get their money back. Product recalls are published on the Food Safety Agency (FSA) website with the details of the risky products.

Tesco - Mixed Fruit and Nut

Lidl - Eridanous Greek Style Smoked Mackerel Fillet with Olives and Oregano

Lidl is recalling Eridanous Greek Style Smoked Mackerel Fillet with Olives and Oregano with Soy Oil because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the product.

Symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Lidl GB is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
