Tinder is rolling out a new feature to let people go on a blind date from home

Blind Date may not be on the telly anymore, but you can still get that old-school sense of mystery through Tinder's brand new Fast Chat: Blind Date feature.

With the modern world of dating apps, those looking for love are used to reading up a bit on potential matches before swiping right or left.

However, could a leap into the unknown add to that excitement of meeting somebody for the first time?

While there's no Cilla Black involved (sadly), users will be matched with potential dates based on common interests - but will have no idea on how their possible match actually looks.

Those using the feature will answer a few icebreaker questions before being matched - with the app looking to pair people with those they would normally match with, as well as some surprises.

They will then enter into a timed chat, without knowing any information whatsoever about the other person aside from their responses to a few prompts.

Once the timer runs out, their matches face will be revealed if both parties have swiped right.

Or, if they feel that person wouldn't be right for them, members can always opt to get paired up with a new person instead.

This will allow them to form impressions based on conversations, not photographs.

Blind Date is now available to use in the US but will be rolled out to globally soon.

Kyle Miller, VP of Product Innovation at Tinder, said: "We’ve all seen the mix of anticipation and excitement going on a blind date brought some of our favourite movie or TV characters, and we wanted to recreate that experience for today’s generation with the Blind Date feature".

"There's something really special about letting conversation introduce someone’s personality, without the preconceptions that can be made from photos. The new Blind Date experience brings a surprisingly fun, banter-based way to interact and create connections that’s all new to Tinder".
