Tina Turner is being commemorated in a unique way, as a Barbie doll of the pop icon has gone on sale.
The creation by toy company Mattel is to honour the superstar's 40th anniversary of her hit song "What's Love Got To Do With It".
The doll, which is part of their Barbie Signature Music Series, sports Tina's memorable outfit from the song's music video - a black mini-skirt paired with heels and a denim jacket, as well as her signature permed hair style.
"I am honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey," Turner, 82, said in a statement. Other artists in the series include Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan, David Bowie and Elvis, which see Barbie take on her own version of the musicians.
Widely referred to as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", Tina rose to fame singing with former husband Ike Turner, before launching a successful solo career. Following a turbulent marriage, the couple divorced in 1978, Reuters reports.
Since then, the eight-time Grammy winner enjoyed huge success, with hits like "The Best" and "Proud Mary" among many others. She retired from performing after her last tour, which ended in 2009.
In early November 2019, Turner attended the opening night of The Tina Turner Musical on Broadway, which chronicles her life and work.
Turner, who was born in Tennessee, moved to Switzerland in 1995 to join her German-born record producer partner Erwin Bach, who she later married in 2013, and became a citizen in April of that year.
The doll is available for purchase in on Mattel's online store but it is not confirmed whether they deliver to the UK.
