Tina Turner and Cheryl Tweedy are two names you wouldn't often associate with each other but they appear to have had a soft spot for one another.
Many singers have credited Tina for being their inspiration over the years, with the late hitmaker being known for her vibrant performances and resilience.
Sadly, it was announced on Wednesday that Tina had died aged 83 at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
But while Tina was notably private throughout her final years, she still kept fans updated with the odd public appearance and social media channels.
Following the news of her death, fans have discovered that Tina appeared to be a fan of Cheryl Tweedy and followed her online, meaning they could have been in contact.
There is nothing to suggest the pair ever met but in 2010, sources claimed that Cheryl had been inspired by Tina during her divorce from footballer Ashley Cole.
Former Girls Aloud star Cheryl was deciding to go forward and be known professionally as Cole, or to revert to being Cheryl Tweedy.
Tina had famously kept her married surname, Turner, following her divorce from Ike Turner in 1978 after becoming known by that name.
At the time of Cheryl and Ashley's divorce, a source told The Sun: "'Cheryl has decided her married name will stay. She feels the most successful period of her career has been under the name Cole. She's established in Europe. Going back to her maiden name Tweedy would be confusing.
"It also shows she is bigger than Ashley and prepared to be grown up during a difficult time in her life.
"She is a fan of Tina Turner, Tina was divorced during her career but decided to stick with her married name because it was how she was best known."
On Instagram, mum-of-one Cheryl was just one of the six people that Tina decided to follow – with Beyoncé coming in second.
The late icon also followed Adrienne Warren who was the first actress to play her in the West End and Broadway production based on her life.
Meanwhile, the other accounts were for the musical as well as Tina's record labels.
Fans have since taken to Twitter to share their confusion over Tina and Cheryl's link, with one writing: "Uhhh… why is one of the six people that Tina Turner follow is Cheryl Tweedy?! Lol."
"Tina Turner's Instagram profile only follows Beyoncé, Cheryl Cole and a few record labels there, and how beloved they were by the legend," said a second.
Before a third penned: "Just a reminder that Tina Turner only followed 6 people on Instagram - one of which was Cheryl from Girls Aloud?!"
Another added: "Much will be written about Tina Turner's legacy - and rightly so. An icon and a legend. However, now we may never know if she meant to have Cheryl Cole as one of her only 6 follows on Insta or whether she simply scrolled too far past Cher..."
