Tina Turner's funeral plans revealed as the world mourns singing star

Music legend Tina Turner's funeral plans have been revealed after the star's death on Wednesday.

The Best songstress who died aged 83, whose real name was Anna Mae Bullock, died at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich in Switzerland on Wednesday after a long illness.

Her spokesperson confirmed she died "peacefully" adding: "With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model. With her music and her inexhaustible vitality, Tina Turner thrilled millions of fans and inspired many artists of subsequent generations."

Now, tributes from those around the world have poured in, with Naomi Campbell and Magic Johnson leading heartfelt notes memorialising the icon reports the Mirror.

And as fans mourn the Rock 'n' Roll Queen, who previously suffered ill health in recent years, her representatives have announced details of her funeral plans.

In a statement, her spokesperson revealed that only Tina’s close relatives and friends would be attending the service and that it will be a very private affair.

Tina’s representative said: "There will be a private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family."

Her official Instagram posted to announce the news of her death to fans.

The statement on her social media page read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.

"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."

Despite her impressive on-stage career, Tina's personal life was plagued by ill health – which saw her once consider assisted suicide – and tragedy.

The hitmaker was forced to face health battles at the peak of her career, including a cancer battle and a stroke.

She also had kidney failure, which led to her desperately needing a transplant in 2017.

Tina revealed she was so ill she was ready to end her life until hubby Erwin donated one of his own.

She also lived with a form of post-traumatic stress disorder which stemmed from the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of her first husband, Ike Turner.

But her heartache didn’t stop there as Tina tragically lost a second child just months before her own death.

The tragic death of her son Ronnie, who was found dead outside his home in Los Angeles, was the latest in a string of horrific life events the singer suffered through.

Her 62-year-old son who passed away in December after 'having a hard time breathing' and was 'found unresponsive by neighbours'.

It was the latest heartbreak for Tina in recent years. In 2018, the singer lost her other son Craig, when he took his own life.
