Timothée Chalamet is not only one of the most swoon-worthy guys in Hollywood but he’s also a sartorial risk-taker who deftly dons out-there ensembles – such as the sparkly embellished ‘bib’ he wore to the Golden Globes on Sunday night – with aplomb.
Ever wondered where he gets his sartorial savoir faire?
Well, as his mother (and date) Nicole Flender accompanied her son on the red carpet at the 76th annual Golden Globes on Sunday night wearing a logo vest and trouser set from the Spring 2019 Off-White collection, it became clear that fashion nous is in the blood.
Both dressed head-to-toe in looks from streetwear designer of the moment Virgil Abloh, Chalamet and his mum might just be the coolest mother-and-son duo we have ever laid eyes on.
And it’s not the first time that Chalamet has chosen to bring his mum as his date for an awards ceremony. Flender stood at Chalamet’s side on the Oscars red carpet last year when he was nominated for his breakout performance in Call Me By Your Name.
And back in January of last year, she also accompanied him to the Screen Actors Guild Awards, a ceremony she had also attended with her son five years previously, as Chalamet pointed out in a throwback pic on Instagram.
That the pair should choose to wear designs by Virgil Abloh (the only seen at the Golden Globes this year) comes as no surprise given Chalamet’s vocal support for the designer. The young star has spoken openly about his admiration for Virgil Abloh and has supported him in both his roles as creative head for Louis Vuitton menswear and his own label Off-White. In October last year, Chalamet was one of the first to wear a monochromatic suit from Abloh’s debut collection for the French fashion house.
A sparkling harness wouldn’t work on everyone, but Chalamet managed to pull it off while simultaneously oozing that just-rolled-out-of-bed cool for which we love him.
In fact, the only real competition he had for coolest cat on the red carpet this time was from his style maven mother.
