Tottenham are poised to announce the loan signing of Timo Werner once he has completed a medical on Tuesday.
The former Chelsea forward stayed overnight at the club's Hertfordshire training base and is finalising his switch from RB Leipzig.
Werner will join Spurs on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent for around £14.5million in the summer.
He should go straight into the squad for Sunday’s game against Manchester United at Old Trafford, where Spurs will again be missing captain and talisman Heung-min Son, who is away at the Asian Cup with South Korea.
Werner has scored two goals in 14 appearances for Leipzig this season. He has 57 Germany caps but has not played for his country since March 2023.
Chelsea paid £45m for Werner in 2020. He struggled at Stamford Bridge, scoring just 23 goals in 89 appearances, but Ange Postecoglou hopes he can bring the best out of him.
Manor Solomon is finally nearing a return for Spurs having been sidelined since October, but Spurs could be without Son until mid-February and Brennan Johnson is yet to find his best form consistently since his £47.5m move from Nottingham Forest last summer.
Ivan Perisic is not expected to play again this season and Werner will boost the forward options available to Postecoglou.
