Timo Werner read the Leipzig riot act as Celtic petulance earns him a verbal warning

RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose has warned star man Timo Werner to park the petulant attitude ahead of their rematch with Celtic in the Champions League this week.

The Bundesliga side travel to Glasgow this week for the second of their double-header with Celtic, after their 3-1 win in Germany this week. But Leipzig boss Rose was unhappy at former Chelsea star Werner's reaction to being substituted during the match after he made clear he was unhappy at being hooked.

Rose insists there is no problem between the pair, but has warned him he wouldn't tolerate a repeat. He said: "The player approached me, we talked and exchanged our views. But the facts are I can't tolerate such things and I don't want to tolerate them. That's important and I think that's what Timo understood.

"The matter is closed and it won't happen again. It's a team game and I made that clear to him. But there's no problem. Timo will play in Glasgow. I'm totally behind him, I want to support him, I want to help him score a lot of goals for our club and for Germany. And I want to help him develop."

Meanwhile, Rose has backed his reserve Leipzig keeper Janis Blaswich to shine at Parkhead after he came on to replace stricken keeper and captain Peter Gulacsi, who will be out for the season after suffering an ACL injury against the Hoops.

He said: "We have a good goalkeeper in Janis Blaswich who came in against Celtic and did an excellent job. He made two or three great saves in Celtic's best stage in the first half. He seemed very calm and clear overall and did a great job against Celtic."
