New York City’s Times Square welcomed the new year with its iconic ball drop event, drawing crowds of revelers who braved the cold weather and rain to be part of the celebration. Prior to the main event, attendees endured long lines and thorough security checks before settling in for a night filled with performances and excitement, with some even laying on the pavement to secure their spots.
This year's festivities featured musical acts by popular artists such as TLC, Jonas Brothers, Rita Ora, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, adding to the festive atmosphere of the night. For many, like Long Island resident Tommy Onolfo, who has been attending the event for the past 8 years, Times Square's New Year's celebration is considered the ultimate party, with no other place quite like it to ring in the new year.

The management of Times Square meticulously prepared for the event, conducting tests on the famous ball drop and inspecting the 2025 numerals, lights, and thousands of crystals that adorn the area. This year marked the final appearance of the crystal ball, a tradition that has spanned over a century, as it will be replaced by a new digital ball in the upcoming year.
With over a million people expected to attend the celebration, the New York Police Department (NYPD) ramped up security measures across the city to ensure the safety of all attendees. Despite the challenging weather conditions, NYPD officers remained vigilant throughout the night, working to safeguard both New Yorkers and visitors enjoying the New Year's Eve festivities in the heart of NYC.
