Three rail operator that run trains through Newcastle have cancelled all their services today due to a strike.
Members of the Aslef train drivers' union are on strike on Thursday January 5 as part of an ongoing dispute. Drivers working for 15 rail operators are taking part.
Several companies have chosen to cancel all trains today, including three of the five that serve Newcastle Central Station. Only LNER and Lumo are operating trains today. LNER's service is running to an "extremely limited" timetable, with just 12 trains all day departing from Central Station. The majority of Lumo services are expected to run as - unlike LNER - its drivers are not taking part in the strike.
