Time today your area will hit sunshine high point as UK basks in 24C heat

Britain is set to bask in the hottest temperatures of the year so far today.

The Met Office is forecasting up to 24C in parts of the country, with the summer quickly approaching.

Over the weekend, north Wales recorded highs of 23C, though there were "mixed fortunes" elsewhere, the national weather agency said.

England and Wales saw glorious sunshine, but Scotland and Northern Ireland were overcast with patchy rain.

The hottest temperatures today are expected at around 4pm for all of the UK.

Swansea and Cardiff were projected to hit 23C by mid-afternoon, while Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth could reach 22C by 3pm.

The rest of the England and Wales will be looking at anywhere between 14C and 20C for the remainder of the day.
