Time to upgrade your Apple Mac as new computers promise turbocharged power boost

If you are using an older Intel-powered Apple MacBook Pro, you may want to consider an urgent upgrade.

It’s the latest reboot of the range following the October 2021 launch of M1-powered machines.

MacBook Pro 2023

The new MacBook Pro machines, a 14in and 16in model, feature Apple’s next-generation of silicon called M2 Pro and M2 Max.

These powerful chips will push performance and efficiency to a new level with tasks running even faster and battery life lasting longer.

Apple promises that its latest Pro models will render graphics six times faster than older Intel models and give users a staggering 22 hours of battery endurance life - the most stamina ever from a MacBook.

The new notebooks will also support speedy Wi-Fi 6 broadband and 8K displays for the first time. The latter means that you can plug them into a top-notch monitor and get a pin-sharp picture.

The new the M2 Pro powered MacBook Pro devices will get either a 10-core or 12-core CPU with up to eight high-performance and four high-efficiency cores.

But if you upgrade to the M2 Max you get a much larger GPU featuring up to 38 cores and up to 96GB of unified memory.

You also get a Liquid Retina XDR display, 1080p FaceTime HD camera, six-speaker sound system and studio-quality mics.

And like on the 2021 models, these machines come with plenty of ports including USB-C, SD card reader and MagSafe charging which pops out should someone trip on the cable.
